La Marina FREE Rock Festival

Coming up on Saturday 7th July in the Market area in calle Justo Antonio Quesada on the La Marina urbanisation, San Fulgencio, is ‘Rock Arena’ a rock and metal festival featuring six bands in a mega festival of sound. The councillor for youth, new technology, employment and tourism Borja Alonso explained that the Town Hall in conjunction with the Youth and Tourism department had come up with the idea of a Rock Festival to help spread the name of San Fulgencio far and wide and put it on the cultural map for music with a festival that might well become a regular annual fixture and help local businesses with extra custom as well. As an added attraction in these crisis hit days entrance to the festival is completely FREE. The programme promises an evening of wall to wall rock and heavy metal sounds with some top notch nationally accredited bands featuring Koma, Saratoga, Centinela, Sphinx, Döria and local group Magnum 44. Doors will open at 6.00 pm and the councillor told us the music is likely to start an hour or so later. There will be lots going on with bars provided by local businesses that are helping sponsor the event. There are some great looking festival t-shirts in black with silver graphics and similarly decorated guitar plectra. TNT radio will also have a marquee at the event, presenting the festival and involved in CD signings and much more. Ahead of the festival itself but as a way of introducing it, last weekend in the village of San Fulgencio Rock band Alhándal from Malaga presented an acoustic set in the Municipal Theatre Cardenal Belluga.  There was also a prize draw for a guitar donated by the bar ‘Dos Más’ together with t-shirts, CD’s and other prizes Alongside the music there were large screens set up inside and outside the theatre together with an outside bar so that everyone could enjoy the Euro 2012 quarter final between Spain and France. Benitachell Bowling Club is located near the village of Benitachell, about 10 mins. drive from the picturesque resort of Javea, Northern Alicante.
The attractive clubhouse has extensive covered and enclosed space for spectators. The club is known for its high level of bowling standards.

Benitachell Bowls Club is the only independent club on the Costa Blanca, here in Spain. Owned and run by the members themselves through a board of directors and the Club Captain who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Club.

The club was opened on 20th June 1988 with some 150 titleholders (not all bowlers) and just two annual members. The club has gone from strength to strength over the last 20 years and currently has a bowling membership of well over 200, comprising of titleholders, annual and temporary members.

There is also a very active social side to the club, see Social Events from the main menu.

The club have 4 teams playing in the Costa Blanca Leagues, with it's Rinks team playing both north and south of Alicante and is known as the BBC. The three other teams compete in the "Northern League" playing other clubs north of Alicante, and go by the names of the Lions, (who were the League Champions for 2007/8) the Tigers and the Jaguars, known also as the "big cats".

We have 8 rinks which are all synthetic surfaces and the club is open 7 days a week for the members to practice their skills and play in a variety of competitions both "in house" and open events.

There are three sessions devoted to "club days", Tuesday mornings, Friday mornings and Sunday mornings, (with an optional Tuesday afternoon which the Club Captain may wish to use) which attract many of the club members.

The club house is the centre of activity before and after matches, where members can obtain refreshments and the social side of the club meet to enjoy their many functions.

The Alenda Golf Club is a splendid par 72, 18-hole golf course which is situated close to both Alicante and Elche. This is a great area if you are considering buying a spanish property near a golf course.
The club house is an old restored farm house where you can find a restaurant-cafeteria, changing rooms and golf shop. There is also a driving range and putting green. The first 9 holes are entertaining and easier to play, with wide fairways (which help tee shots) limited by pines, carob trees and palm trees. On the contrary, the second 9 holes require a higher concentration being more technical and precision is more important than distance. All the holes are linked together and the walks to tee from the green are short which makes for a fairly quick round and is ideal for players of all levels


The first nine holes at Alenda golf club are medium length and favour the accurate player over the big hitter. The holes are easy and the fairways are wide which helps on the tee shots.
The greens give a special character to the course because the slopes allow for a wide variety of flag positions and you will need to visualise the break very clearly when putting and hit the ball with just the right amount of oomph if you want to hole out in good order.
